The story switches between John and Marina's points of view and while in one way I liked this mostly because John is the dullest protagonist ever and it meant we get less of him , it was sometimes confusing at the start of the switch as to who it was. I knew this due to the incorporation of an unknown planet and alien bounty hunters. And that's just the backstory. Later, John approaches Ella to gain her telepathy. Disney also developed a lot of Internet content to target a teen audience with their marketing campaign. This quickly devolves into a battle with Six as the victor, showing her impressive prowess in her Legacies. I really enjoyed this book, but it felt like a filler more then anything. I mean cmon she is the only one willing to accept all the shitty things happening. The two end the conversation as good friends. Sam, while growing into a wonderful character, was a little annoying and honestly I don't see what he's adding to these books. At some stages you threw in lengthy words that didnt fit, just to show us how smart you are.
They want to try to find the other Numbers, combining each of their powers to fight against the Mog's and bring peace to there planet Lorien, thus saving planet earth from certain doom. Sam is surprised to learn the truth about Five, and so is Adam, who tells them even he didn't know about it. John, Sam, Malcolm, Adam, and the remaining Chimærae head to. A few quick examples of Anti-heroes would be Wolverine, the Punisher, and Batman. The one thing that kind of annoyed me is, surprise surprise, Sarah. Five reveals that Setrákus Ra has been contacting him in his dreams about rejoining his side and taunts John about his stupidity in trusting him.
Well I have reached that point with our numbered protagonists. I still like the over all concept of the story but for me it was one of those plots where there's lots of action but nothing seems to be actually happening. You did a crap job at building suspense and foreshadowing. The rain of stones stop, and the Garde meet. Yeah I know, generally it is the book is so much better since there is more detail and plot development. While in the car, John is examining the objects in his Chest when his solar system turns into a replica of the Earth showing several dots around the globe.
But past that, what is so desireable about Four? He lives in a small town with his mentor. Something tells me things might get interesting. John realizes Five is the traitor and that Ella is related to Ra. He wakes up riding on Bernie Kosar in the form of a horse, with Nine leading them away from the base. Meanwhile, the Mogadorians continue searching for John, while being trailed by another Garde, Number Six, who is also trying to locate Number Four.
The trio quickly take care of them before heading off. An anti-hero is someone who we really shouldn't be rooting for, they're criminals, murderers, and generally not good people, but we root for them anyway, because they're written in such a way that we can see why they are the way that they are, and empathize with them. Four was recognized at an early age as a particularly gifted Garde and was paired with his Cêpan before the age of eleven. He comes to find out that people know more about him than he thinks and those very people are quite similar to him. John manages to heal him but it is soon apparent that the Chimæra is permanently scarred with a chunk missing from his ear and shows signs of a change of personality. Here, Will Salas finds himself accused of murder and on the run with a hostage - a connection that becomes an important part of the way against the system.
With new complications and the promise of new characters I'm sure the next installment will be just as thrilling. Only there weren't vampires, but aliens. John and Nine quickly escape. The book is also parttime narrated by another girl, not in the first book, named Marina. They say a video record of a Mog saying they planted a story in Buenos Aires to lure the Garde. Enjoy if it's your cup of tea. But all the series I have watched before this one were moderately enjoyable at least.
