Quite an intersting plot make this Sherlock Holmes movie interesting to watch. When the elevator doors open, she's brutally slashed to death by a tall blonde woman wearing dark sunglasses. Quite a few scenes approach soft-core porn. The first 36 minutes are riveting and even though it's apparent who the killer is, it's still very good suspense and fun to watch all the way through, particularly for males ogling the naked women. The men in this film are actually treated the way women normally are in films, as either silent sex objects seen Warren Lockman , sexless enemies Kate's husband , shrill harpies that need to be defeated Detective Marino or sexless best friends who provide the hero with the tools they need to save the day Peter. We've listed a number of streaming and cable services - including rental, purchase, and subscription options - along with the availability of 'Dressed to Kill' on each platform. Some of the scenes made me think that I was watching a porn film, but this film will succeed in holding your attention.
Synopsis A mysterious blonde woman kills one of a psychiatrist's patients, and then goes after the high-class call girl who witnessed the murder. Later that day, after complaining to her psychiatrist Dr. A worthy Antagonist to Sherlock leads to a duel of wits. She went on to star on Broadway. Dressed to Kill is somewhat important historically. Liz Blake, a high-class call girl, is the only witness to the murder and she becomes the prime suspect and the murderer's next target. Even if you disagree, see Dressed to Kill to see an oft criticised but occasionally brilliant director at the height of his powers.
I'm a bit of a lightweight when it comes to scary movies, but I'm also a huge Michael Caine fan, so I ended up liking it. Later that day, after complaining to her psychiatrist Dr. Basil Rathbone's Holmes is brilliant as ever, and Nigel Bruce is engaging as the ever-bumbling Dr. One more thing, Patricia Morison as the femme fatale going after the music boxes--see her remarkable bio in Wikipedia. Some of the scenes made me think that I was watching a porn film, but this film will succeed in holding your attention.
When the elevator doors open, she's brutally slashed to death by a tall blonde woman wearing dark sunglasses. This film, directed by Brian De Palma, is about a woman named Kate Miller who has a sexually frustrated life and she sees a therapist named Dr. But it's probably Dickinson's best work, and Caine is fine indeed. Sharp enough and brilliant enough to outwit the-the great Sherlock Holmes himself! There is not much dialog in the first 20 minutes and no bad language until Franz enters the picture after the murder. Its a fact of life that one day I will be dead so will you.
Seriously, in another film, one would think Peter would have sexual interest in Liz, but despite her double entendres and come ons, he remains more concerned with schedules and numbers and evidence. He directs many scenes without dialog, and he tells much of his story, strictly through the use of his visuals, and Pino Donnagio's brilliant score. All they took however was a simple wooden music box he had bought at auction that day for a mere £2. Liz is rescued from being killed by Kate's son Peter, who enlists the help of Liz to catch his mother's. This entry , as usual , finds Mrs Hudson , but doesn't appear Inspector Lestrade , substituting a commissioner of Scotland Yard the eternal secondary Ian Wolfe. It can be pretty scary at times, but if you like this type of movie, it's a really great one.
Although the best scenes are those without dialogue, where De Palma just lets Pino Donnaggio's lush, darkly beautiful score take over the sound, there is quite a bit of fun to be had in the often deliberately humorous dialogue, and the really rather cute relationship between nerdy Keith Gordon and tough as nails Nancy Allen, who make a great team. While Holmes and Watson encounter at 221 Baker Street talking about the publication of the story 'Scandal in Bohemia with Irene Adler' in the Strand Review , are visited by an old friend , a collector of music-boxes , explaining the robbing a special box manufactured by an inmate from Dartmoor prison. The box was one of three available for sale and as Holmes and Watson begin to trace the other purchasers, it becomes apparent that someone will stop at nothing, including murder, to retrieve all three. Brian De Palma's thriller Dressed To Kill is basically a semi remake of Psycho, right from the structure of it's story to it's villain right down to certain specific scenes. The tension is high and it can also be scary at times. When Holmes learns the identity of the music box maker, he is convinced it contains directions to the retrieval of something very valuable that the government has kept from the public. Liz Blake, a high-class call girl, is the only witness to the murder and she becomes the prime suspect and the murderess's next target.
It's odd then that director Brian De Palma was basically trying to crib Hitchcock. }but where the tension is ramped up to an incredible degree. Watch this film knowing about the Psycho element and as long as you don't mind some graphic sex and violence you should have a whale of a time. Nevertheless, Universal's modernized Sherlock Holmes yarns have an appeal all their own, and this one is no exception. While the police think Liz is the murderer, the real killer wants to silence the crime's only witness.
All dressed up with no script to go, but a feverish nerve jangler nonetheless. Robert Elliott about her husband's pathetic performance in bed, she meets a strange man at a museum and returns to his apartment where they continue an adulterous encounter that began in the taxicab. Because of its removal from the main genre of the film and its primary concern with directorial panache as well as cultural facts external to the film , the opening seems like a not very well integrated attempt to titillate and be risque. Nowadays it's a lot of cutaways to maintain visual interest. Panicked, Kate rushes into the elevator, but has to return to his apartment when she realizes she's forgotten her wedding ring. Holmes to life for so many to enjoy.
Sherlock Holmes is intrigued when Dr. Kate's sympathetic psychiatrist Caine advises her to indulge in an extra-marital affair. From there on out, confusion ensues as people try to track down the killer. You only live one, this is a not rehearsal. Overall, Dressed to Kill is a very smart, though erotic thriller that gives off a similar feel to a Hitchcock film. Liz is rescued from being killed by Kate's son Peter, who enlists the help of Liz to catch his mother's.
